Fat Tuesday treat is tasty on snowy morning
Rachel Hackett (right) was among streams of students and faculty walking from all corners of campus to Manoogian Hall in pursuit of pączki, a rich doughnut filled with jelly, sold by the Polish Culture Club in celebration of Fat Tuesday. Nicole Beller (left) says business was brisk for the traditional Polish pastry, originally made to use up a family’s lard and sugar in advance of the first day of Lent, which begins Wednesday. Beller, a founding member of the club, says proceeds from selling 55 dozen pączki are benefiting the Slavic Scholarship Fund.
