International swimmers/divers receive All-Academic conference honors

Five international Wayne State University men's swimmers and divers were named to conference All-Academic Teams. WSU competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Junior Ahmed Ahmed (Alexandria, Egypt) and sophomore Joao Martimbianco Ribeiro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team for having a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Both are first-time honorees.

Senior Nick Quigley (Guelph, Ontario) and juniors Rasmus Olsen (Kastrup, Denmark) and Dima Drobnych (Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine) were named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team. Each has a cumulative GPA between 3.0-3.49.quigley

Ahmed has earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.5+) twice (Fall 2015 and Fall 2017), and the Coach's Honor Roll (term GPA 3.0-3.49) for three other terms. He is a mechanical engineering major.

Ribeiro, also a mechanical engineering major, is a two-time Athletic Director's Honor Roll recipient (Winter 2017 and Fall 2017).

A three-time Coach's Honor Roll recipient, Quigley is a first-time winner after transferring from Indianapolis at the conclusion of the 2015-16 season. He also is a mechanical engineering major.quigley

This is the second GLIAC All-Academic nod for Olsen, who is majoring in management. He is a two-time Athletic Director's Honor Roll recipient (Fall 2015 and Fall 2016), and was named to the Coach's Honor Roll three other terms.

Drobnych is a two-time honoree of the GLIAC All-Academic award. The global supply chain management major was a Fall 2016 recipient of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, as well as a Coach's Honor Roll selection for Winter 2017 and Fall 2017.
