Where to stay
Secure housing
Apply for on-campus housing or explore off-campus housing opportunities in Midtown Detroit.
If you have made arrangements for on-campus housing, check your contract to confirm what day you can move in. Even though you can arrive in the U.S. up to 30 days before your program starts, your room may not be available when you get here. It's important that you review your WSU housing contract to find out the exact date you can move in.
If you plan to stay in off-campus housing, contact your landlord to determine what day you can move in.
Temporary housing
If you will arrive before your housing is available, you should make arrangements in advance for a temporary place to stay. You can stay with friends or relatives, or you can stay at a hotel.
WSU works with numerous hotels in metro Detroit to offer special pricing for university students. Check the current locations and discounted rates, and book directly with whichever hotel you choose. Make sure to ask for the Wayne State University discount!
Self-quarantine information
International students should contact the Campus Health Center after arriving to the U.S. to determine whether or not a self-quarantine period is necessary. If you are required to self-quarantine, you can do so in your own residence once you arrive to Detroit. Anyone with questions about self-quarantining can contact Wayne State's Campus Health Center for further guidance.
Free COVID-19 testing is available on campus at the Campus Health Center. You should self-monitor for symptoms for 14 days after you return to protect others from getting COVID-19.
